A weekend in London
August 7, 2018After the sitting we headed into central London for four days. We stayed in an AirBNB which was still pretty expensive, but were able to visit the downtown area pretty easily. There were so many things going on downtown, the Pride parade, Wimbleton, the World cup and of course Summer vacation! There were so many people in London, it was so busy and insane! But we still got to do our favourite things, like checking out farmers markets, of course Borough Market (possibly the best market in the world) and Hamleys, the famous toy store in Downtown London, where Kylee met the Queen… (made out of Lego)
We also met up with our friend that we had met back in 2007 in Thailand. He is Thai but has called London home for nearly eight years now. We went out for a great little picnic where he showed us an English summer classic: Pimm’s mixed with fruit and soda, which cooled us down on the hot afternoon!
We went out for Sunday roasts and Fish and Chippies, tikka masala (the national dish) and salted beef sandwiches! Our friend Aut, surprised us with tickets to see MGMT in one of the coolest venues we have ever seen. It was in the Somerset House, an outdoor venue in the middle of downtown London, and it was amazing! The concert was so much fun, and a great way to say goodbye to this wonderful but very expensive city.
There are so many amazing and fun things to check out here, but overall too much money to be spent, just getting around cost a lot due to the pound being so much greater than the Canadian dollar.
We caught the train early the next morning to the airport and got on the cheapest flight we could find to get us closer to the conference in the Czech Republic, which was Warsaw, Poland.
