We need 5 volunteers
Surfaris Retreat is the original Surf camp in Australia. Created in 1994, it continues to provide ASI accredited surf lessons/tours for surfers of all levels.
Outside of the surfing activities, Surfaris Retreat is also a hostel/motel-like which offers both private rooms and dormitory accommodations.
Located half way between Sydney and Byron Bay, it's the perfect little getaway, surrounded with luxuriant bush, 800 meters from the beach, and only a 3 minute drive from the village of Crescent Head.
We are on 15 acres of land, with 6 acres cleared and 9 acres of bush. Constant maintenance and gardening tasks are required to keep this place tidy and beautiful, and we could do with some help from some green thumbs! Anyone with some experience in permaculture is welcome as we would like to be develop towards a more sustainable model.
And as we are also an accommodation business, there are always some cleaning and cooking to around, especially in summer!
If you have the required surfing qualifications you could also participate in surf lessons.
We ask all volunteers to commit for a duration of minimum 2 weeks.
We provide you with 3 meals/day, accommodation in private rooms or dorms, and you can use all surfing equipment you need.
We strongly recommend to have your own vehicle as we are located a little bit out of town and there isn't any public transport in the area.

English, French, Indonesian
Ben (1st language: English) speaks Indonesian quite fluently, and understands and speaks a bit of Spanish Sandra (1st language: French), speaks fluent English, understands and speak a bit of Spanish
We are Ben & Sandra, Australian/French couple, in our early-mid 30's.
We are the live-in managers, and we participate in and coordinate all tasks around the place.
We have both traveled quite a bit and we still love it! We are sociable and enjoy a good dinner, a drink and a good chat at the end of the day. Everybody needs a bit of privacy too, so we enjoy it as well when we can, but we'll do our best to make you feel like at home and make you enjoy your time while staying with us.
We offer accommodation in a shared staff house, which features 2 big private rooms (1 could be a room to share between 2 or 3 friends as well), 1 small private room, and 2 shared rooms with bunk beds. We usually don't fill up the shared room so everybody has a room to them-self.
We'll often eat diners together, but you'll have to prepare breakfast and lunches yourself.
