Romic medical centre anon profit community based organization based in eastern and central Uganda near source of the Nile priotizes medicolegal services to vulnerable victims affected by gender based violences.Young children are greatly affected by physical violences while adolescents predominantly affected by sexual abuses.WHY medicolegal; in 2014 during my internship in Jinja regional referral hospital a 15 year old girl who had been raped missed seeing amedicolegal examiner for 3 days ,the fourth day she met me and upon examination I found out that had been raped but unfortunately I couldn't give Post exposure prophylaxis to prevent HIV as it was already late.after 2months her HIV status had turned positive. Had she been attended to and advised promptly she would have been saved from getting HIV. This case touched me alot and since then I priotized on helping such vulnerable victims and that's why we started romic medical Centres .Our focus at romic has been identifying and giving appropriate support to these victims who are exposed to psychological, physical and sexual violence.Therefore in collaboration with police, judicial institutions and probation offices we give medical support, and even our medical team go to court setting to give professional witness so that Justice is attained.This project to stand needs alot of resources in terms of medicines, medical equipments, allowances to the medical team and other support staffs, community sensitization,transport,rent of the premises and other operational costs. In this spirit on behalf of the organization we humbly and honestly welcome anybody who would want to join us and any kind of help is highly appreciated.
