I've been informed I'm friendly and approachable, reliable and hardworking, flexible and very adaptable to any culture or situation, empathic and sensitive to other's needs, easy going and a good listener.
I love physical work and practical projects where one can see something tangible at the end of the day. I love nature, animals and reading, and these days, consider myself quiet living.
I'm a British citizen who's been working overseas for the past ten years as an English teacher.
Currently, I'm contractually obligated in Djibouti, east Africa until the end of July and due back in the UK on the 2nd of August.
I'm finishing teaching after thirteen years of working in education and planning on returning to my former profession in healthcare at the end of this year.
I'll need to return to university part time to update my medical knowledge before I can re register as a nurse.
Therefore, I'm looking for a practical project to help me get a foothold back in the UK and readjust back into UK life, one where I'm occupied in something other than academia for a month.
I have a diverse career background with experience in animal husbandry including poultry, horses, cattle, sheep, camels and of course dogs. I can turn my hand to most things in building and restoration, dry stone walling and also carpentry. I love gardening too.
I once restored my own classic sailing boat so have an understanding of maritime affairs.
Because Djibouti is an amber listed country, I need to quarantine for ten days on arrival, and will need to be given a list of things to do whilst keeping my distance from people.
I'm 62 and very active and love long distance cycling but am somewhat tired of travelling around the world.
I have worked in engineering as a maintenance fitter in heavy industry forestry in both commercial and traditional, healthcare as a registered nurse in the NHS and overseas humanitarian relief, education as an English teacher both at home in the UK and overseas, traditional boat restoration both at home in the UK and overseas, animal husbandry on a hill farm in north Wales, Morocco and Kenya, including equine management, calving and lambing, experienced in mountain and remote rescue.
I have formal qualifications and training in medicine, education, engineering, remote access and tunnel rescue.
I am not a smoker, don't have a drivers license, I am not a vegetarian and I have no allergies.
I'm an ex smoker, I like beer but don't drink alcohol as the slightest bit puts me to sleep
