About me

Hi! We're Veronica (Vero) and Miguel! We're a couple living in Madrid who are about to embark on our first long trip together. Our idea is to start in Serbia and make our way slowly through the Balkan countries and back up through Central Europe on our way to France, where we hope to stay for a few months at the end of our trip. During our travels, we would like to use Workaway to meet new people, learn about different cultures and ways of living and contribute our skills and work ethic to helping others. We're really looking forward to this experience and hope to share it with you!
Here's a little bit more about Veronica:
I'm a spontaneous person who loves living new adventures. Originally from Philadelphia, I moved to Spain 8 years ago and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Living in Spain has taught me how to live in the moment and appreciate the important things in life. Travel is one of the most important things for me and I feel like it's taught me more than all of my years of schooling combined. The people that I've met along the way have left a huge impact on me and have shown me different ways of thinking and viewing the world around me.
I'm environmentally-conscious and trying to incorporate Zero Waste in my day-to-day-life. This will be something I'll try to maintain as best as I can during my travels. I'm also vegetarian for environmental reasons, though I'm flexible of course when it comes to trying local cuisine.
Here´s a little more about Miguel:
Originally from Salamanca (Spain), I'm a social, easygoing, open-minded and active person who really enjoys travelling, meeting new people and laughing with friends while playing board games. I like to be surrounded by nature whenever I can, so hiking is one of my favorite hobbies. I also enjoy theatre, films and participating in social movements.
I work in the communication department of a NGO because I believe that love, kindness and embracing multiculturalism make us better people.

Skills

Both Miguel and Veronica are hard-working, fast learners who are eager to try new things and help out in any way possible.
Miguel is a Communications specialist with ample experience working in non-profits and NGO's. He's an expert in social media and he has experience with graphic design as well. Apart from communications, he also has experience in theatre, photography, film industry and at summer festivals. Miguel studied Audiovisual Communication and International Development.
Veronica is a professional in International Relations, but she's dabbled in many different jobs. She's worked in cafe's, restaurants, a book factory, translation, and also NGO's and non-profits. Before her current position as an administrative assistant and student adviser, she worked as an English as a Second Language teacher for 5+ years. She still teaches a few English classes online.
Although we are new to Workaway, both of us have experience in similar projects. Miguel worked at a summer theatre festival in Burgas, Bulgaria through an Erasmus+ volunteer project and Veronica was a volunteer on an organic farm near Colmar, France. Veronica also spent some time on an organic farm/peace project near Bethlehem, Palestine, where she pruned grape vines, assisted in farm chores and contributed to peace-building projects. Miguel was a Scout leader for several years and he also volunteered at a hospital with elderly patients. Veronica has worked with refugees in Greece and Spain.
As you can see, both of us have lots of experience in different areas. We enjoy working with people, doing yardwork and gardening, helping out with animals and learning new skills.

I am not a smoker, I have a drivers license, I am a vegetarian and I have no allergies.
